Understand the FA and TA scores

A stock can be viewed from two angles: the health of the business and the behavior of its share price. These scores summarize those perspectives to make stock research easier to understand.

FA SCORE

Fundamental Analysis

The FA (Fundamental Analysis) Score combines company research, financial analyses, formulas, ratios, and other fundamental metrics into one summary of a company’s financial condition and fundamentals.

Example

Reviewing profitability, debt, cash flow, financial ratios, and company research one by one can take time. The FA Score brings that broad research into one summary, giving you a starting point before you explore the details.

It summarizes what company research and financial measures suggest about the business’s condition and fundamentals.

TA SCORE

Technical Analysis

The TA (Technical Analysis) Score evaluates stock price movements, chart patterns, trends, and other technical indicators. A higher score means current market conditions look more favorable for buying according to IM-AAM’s scoring methodology.

Example

A stock with a steady upward trend and supportive chart signals may have a more favorable technical assessment. A weakening trend may point to less favorable current conditions. These signals describe market behavior; they cannot predict what happens next with certainty.

A higher TA Score indicates a more favorable technical assessment under IM-AAM’s scoring methodology. It is not a promise of future performance.

READING THE SCORES

Two different perspectives

FA focuses on the company and its financial fundamentals. TA focuses on the stock’s price behavior and current market conditions. Together, they can help you see more than either score alone.

Example

A company may have strong fundamentals while its price trend is currently weakening, or the market trend may look favorable while the company needs more research. The two scores help you notice these different signals.

Use each score as a research summary, then review the supporting information and your own goals before making a decision.
